On 13 and 14 October 2022, the 1st workshop of the Atlas Global Network was held in Athens, titled: Building an International Network of Urban Social Atlases, with the support of the French School of Athens, the Onassis Foundation and the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (ELIDEK).
The workshop was attended by members of the teams of the following projects:
- Nantes: Atlas Social de la Métropole Nantaise
- Caen: Atlas Social de Caen
- Cairo: Cluster Cairo
- Rome: Mappa Roma – Le Mappe della Disuguaglianza
- Malmö: The Öresund Urban Social Atlas
- Madagascar: Projet MadAtlas
- Athens: Athens Social Atlas
- Villes en Mouvement: Projet VILMOUV
The following ongoing projects were also presented:
- Tirana: Atlas of Tirana
- Thessaloniki: Thessaloniki Social Atlas
The participants co-decided, among others, the network’s principles to be:
- Promoting critical understanding of urban questions through comparative analysis.
- Fostering dissemination (democratization) of evidence based knowledge.
Building on the exchange of interdisciplinary expertise and methods.
